But I was thinking at work that it really shouldn't be that way. Yes, Thanksgiving is in November. But are we only supposed to be thankful once a year? Maybe a few more when you toss Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries in there too? Is it bad if we are thankful for the same thing more than once?
In that spirit, I'm going to join the thankful club and since I didn't start at the beginning of the month, I'll list 9 here to get me caught up. But I don't plan on stopping once December hits. No, I'll try to continue as long as possible. While I may not post every day, I will try, and I think you should too. Think about what you are thankful for, not just on Thanksgiving, but everyday. A little positive thinking can go a long way.
1) I am thankful that I am a child of God. No matter how bad things may seem, and even if it seems like the world turns against me, I still have someone on my side. At the end of the day, I've got God on my side and walking with me and that's all I truly need.
2) I am thankful that my husband is a child of God. While we have had some struggles this past year with realizing what God's plan truly is, knowing that Erik has faith and believes in God is truly a blessing. We stand together, united not only in our love for each other but our love and trust in God and that's a really comforting thing.
3) I am thankful that my son is a child of God. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to raise our child in a Christian household and that he can attend a Christian daycare. While we may not be perfect parents (far from it!), knowing that we do our best to raise a little Christian, and that we have someone so eager to learn, is truly priceless.
4) I am thankful that I found my hat which I thought I lost last week. Not everything we are thankful for has to be earth shattering. I'm most thankful that I found my hat before I spent money on another. Woo!
5) I am thankful that I have a job (or two). With so many people out of work, it's nice to not have that constant worry over my/our heads.
6) I am thankful that my husband has a job. While some days rolling out of bed for Erik can be difficult (he's not a morning person), he does enjoy being able to help people and I'm glad that he can find that sort of fulfillment in his job.
7) I am thankful that my son is willing to share. Today we went to the library and when another little boy came up to play with the Thomas trains and I asked Timmy to share, he kept only one train for himself and gave the rest to the other little boy.
8) I am thankful that my dog wakes me up when he is sick at night and needs to go outside. While I am not thankful for this when it happens (and generally complain about it), the alternative is much worse.
9) I am thankful for my family. I love you all and wish that I could see you more often.
