What I'm Thankful For...

Let's see, I think I missed a few days. It's hard when you have company over and the main computer is in the guest room. Don't really want to bust in on anyone and say "I have to blog!"

So I have to come up with 5 things that I'm thankful for, not a problem!

I'm thankful that I got to see my parents for a little bit over the Thanksgiving weekend (even if it was for only an hour and a half or so). I'm glad that they live close enough now that little trips like that are possible.

I'm thankful for time spent with family.

I'm thankful that Timmy has such a love for the library (even if it is mostly because of the toys). He gets so excited about going, it just warms my heart.

I'm thankful that we didn't need to use the heat in November at all (even though the auto-thermostat was set and ready to go, it didn't need to kick in) until today, the last day of the month. Woo! This month has had BEAUTIFUL weather (when it wasn't raining). Such a delight!

I'm thankful for my friends. They put up with some crazy from me, and always seem willing and able to come back for more. I'm glad that we are as close with the friends that we are and that I'm expanding my little group with my book club. I am so grateful that we can share our lives with such wonderful people.

I know that I said I might continue this and I've been giving it some thought. I think I'll do a post about what I'm thankful for about once a month. At least you know I'll be blogging that much!

I have some pictures uploaded, I just need to do the actual posts and captions for the pictures. That seems to be the hardest part of all! I will get to it. Probably not today because it's errand day and I've got a few things we need to go out and get (like an oven thermometer...). Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving as well! Feel free to comment here or message me on Facebook!

What I'm Thankful For...

I am thankful for nap time. Of course this applies both to myself and to Timmy...but I am more thankful for Timmy's nap time. I know that he'll be kicking the habit soon so I am grateful for the time that I still have!

I am thankful for half-days and being done with the week! No more work for me until Sunday (well, no more paid work). Woo!

What I'm Thankful For...

I'm thankful that my husband helps me with cleaning (even if all it means is him taking the dog outside so the vacuuming becomes easier). Thanks honey for all of your help!

What I'm Thankful For...

I'm thankful for nice weather. The weather this weekend (and last) and pretty much all of November has been pretty awesome. We have really been out and about enjoying it. Just hopes this doesn't mean an overly harsh winter...

What I'm Thankful For...

Today I'm thankful for internet at home. I remember when we first got the internet at our house in Seward and what a huge deal it was (to us). We've come a long way since then and it truly is amazing how we are now able to communicate with whomever we want whenever we want.

What I'm Thankful For...

Today I'm thankful for down comforters, even though that means some mornings I'm so comfy and cozy I don't want to get up. Mmm...nice warm bed...

What I'm Thankful For...

I am thankful for my ability to read. I just finished a hard to read book by Laurie Halse Anderson (I know, I'll put the review up here). It was hard to read not because of the writing but because of the topic. I'm really glad that I did read it though, and that she wrote it. But I would not have been able to do that without the ability to read. So thanks to my parents and teachers for making me into the reader I am today! Hopefully Timmy follows in these footsteps!

What I'm Thankful For...

Yesterday turned out to be WAY more hectic than I originally hoped and so I didn't really get a chance to post. Oh well.

Here we go!

1) I am thankful for my family's health.

2) I am thankful that Nate (the husband of one of my book club members) had a successful heart surgery and will be going home today. Nate suffers from Marfan's syndrome and needed to have a stint put in. I am really impressed with how well Melissa and Nate handled everything (especially considering they've got a little guy!). More information about Marfan's syndrome here, here, and here.

What I'm Thankful For...

Today I'm thankful for good friends. I'm so glad that we have friends in the area that we can hang out with and that Timmy really enjoys being around. Sure, he might be a little quiet and shy at first, but he really opens up after a while. I wish that we could do more stuff with our friends but schedules just don't permit it to happen. But I am thankful for the time that we've been able to have together over the past month. Having everyone over for Halloween really cemented the fact that we all really enjoy hanging out together.

What are you thankful for today?

What I'm Thankful For...

I'm thankful that my husband and I trade off being able to sleep in on weekends when I don't work. For example: he slept in yesterday (while I got up at 6:45) and I got to sleep in today (while he got up I don't know when because I was still sleeping). Thank you honey!

What I'm Thankful For...

Since I forgot to post yesterday, that means I have two for today:

1) I'm thankful to have laundry facilities at my home and not to have to use a laundromat. No, it doesn't mean I needed to use it early this morning because of accidents or sickness. It just means that I'm thankful that it's 9 in the morning on a Saturday and I've already done two loads of laundry and I didn't have to leave the house. Yeah!

2) I'm thankful that Timmy takes pleasure in the little things in life. Yesterday he had another field trip, this time to decorate a tree downtown. While decorating the tree seems to have been fun (you can see a video here [this video is labeled decorating Spirit Park] and here--Lisa is Timmy's teacher), he most enjoyed being able to ride the bus. In fact, on Thursday when we went to the zoo there were a lot of kids there on a field trip. He wanted to get on one of their buses to go home. He told me he didn't think they would see us. Umm...I think they would have, but that's just me.

What I'm Thankful For...

I'm thankful for helping. This morning Timmy helped me give Bud his breakfast and water and he loved it! He was a little annoyed that Bud didn't go eat right away ("Bud, your breakfast is ready. Go eat!) but was so proud when Bud finally went to eat ("He's eating the breakfast I gave him!). Thanks for being such a great little helper, Timmy!

What I'm Thankful For...

Today, on Veteran's Day, I am thankful for all of those who have served and currently serve our country. While it may seem like we honor the military and those who have served often, I don't think it's often enough. We have the freedoms and liberties we do because those people have chosen to protect us. Have you thanked a veteran today?

Today I'm thankful for my husband. In specific, I'm thankful that he makes sure I'm up and getting ready for work before he leaves. Awesome!

What I'm Thankful For...

Right now there's a popular thing going on at Facebook. For the entire month of November people are posting as their status updates what they are thankful for. I think that's great. Our country, and people I know, have been so focused on the negative that finally focusing on the positive seems like such a breath of fresh air.

But I was thinking at work that it really shouldn't be that way. Yes, Thanksgiving is in November. But are we only supposed to be thankful once a year? Maybe a few more when you toss Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries in there too? Is it bad if we are thankful for the same thing more than once?

In that spirit, I'm going to join the thankful club and since I didn't start at the beginning of the month, I'll list 9 here to get me caught up. But I don't plan on stopping once December hits. No, I'll try to continue as long as possible. While I may not post every day, I will try, and I think you should too. Think about what you are thankful for, not just on Thanksgiving, but everyday. A little positive thinking can go a long way.

1) I am thankful that I am a child of God. No matter how bad things may seem, and even if it seems like the world turns against me, I still have someone on my side. At the end of the day, I've got God on my side and walking with me and that's all I truly need.

2) I am thankful that my husband is a child of God. While we have had some struggles this past year with realizing what God's plan truly is, knowing that Erik has faith and believes in God is truly a blessing. We stand together, united not only in our love for each other but our love and trust in God and that's a really comforting thing.

3) I am thankful that my son is a child of God. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to raise our child in a Christian household and that he can attend a Christian daycare. While we may not be perfect parents (far from it!), knowing that we do our best to raise a little Christian, and that we have someone so eager to learn, is truly priceless.

4) I am thankful that I found my hat which I thought I lost last week. Not everything we are thankful for has to be earth shattering. I'm most thankful that I found my hat before I spent money on another. Woo!

5) I am thankful that I have a job (or two). With so many people out of work, it's nice to not have that constant worry over my/our heads.

6) I am thankful that my husband has a job. While some days rolling out of bed for Erik can be difficult (he's not a morning person), he does enjoy being able to help people and I'm glad that he can find that sort of fulfillment in his job.

7) I am thankful that my son is willing to share. Today we went to the library and when another little boy came up to play with the Thomas trains and I asked Timmy to share, he kept only one train for himself and gave the rest to the other little boy.

8) I am thankful that my dog wakes me up when he is sick at night and needs to go outside. While I am not thankful for this when it happens (and generally complain about it), the alternative is much worse.

9) I am thankful for my family. I love you all and wish that I could see you more often.
