Erik's mom and I took off first to go do our own thing while the guys stayed home. We went and got our nails done first (something I had wanted to do) and then did a little bit of shopping. We hit some really good sales, at least for me. I got two different shirts for under $8 each. How great is that? I was also able to get a new pair of black work pants to replace the ones that I have outgrown (they are too big now!).
We talked to the guys and decided that meeting up for a late lunch was the best option. We met them, ate, and then did a Timmy exchange so that Erik and his dad could have some time together and also do some shopping.
It was just a really nice, low-key day. I'm glad that I was able to have the time to talk to Erik's mom and spend time with her. I've begun to realize that spending time together is really the best gift that I can give to either my parents or Erik's parents. This is especially true now that they both live away from us. It's taken a while for me to come to that realization but it's true. I think both sets of parents would rather spend time with us and us make that extra effort to come out to visit, rather than receive a present from us. Maybe I'm just reading into things, but this is my honest opinion.
Either way, Erik and I both had a nice day with his parents and that's really all that matters.
