But not having pictures doesn't mean I shouldn't post! Get it together, Amy! It's been almost a month and I haven't even really talked about Thanksgiving and that weekend or anything that's followed. Just kinda sad.
Here's a recap of our Thanksgiving (late): Jake, Amy, and Lucky came up to spend some time with us. They showed up on Wednesday night, stayed with us all day Thursday and then spent Friday with her grandparents in Beaver Dam. For Thanksgiving this year we did ham (because I'm not a huge turkey person anyway), twice baked potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, sweet potato casserole, and cranberry sauce. I totally forgot to make the stuffing and didn't realize it until we were ready to eat. Oh well. Suzy Homemaker I am not. We then went to drive around Candy Cane Lane (yeah, there were some lights up and on) before heading home for some pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is when I had an inkling that things weren't quite right with our oven (more than I had originally thought) and this got confirmed a few days later when Erik made chocolate chip cookies for work (yes, he made them), and they turned out more than a little darker than they should have.
My parents actually came to town for Thanksgiving and spent the day with Paul, Katie and the majority of my relatives. We were able to see them on Friday morning when we went down to see Timmy's tree (his preschool decorated one of the trees in Cathedral Park) before they headed off to the airport. After some lunch, we went to visit my grandparents, had a really great visit, and then came back home for a nap for everyone. We ate leftovers (where I actually made the stuffing) and just hung out.
On Saturday Jake and Amy headed for home and we went to run more errands. It was a nice low key weekend and I'm glad that we were able to do it.
On to our oven. I bought an oven thermometer because things didn't seem quite right and I knew I needed to make cookies for Timmy's Christmas pageant. Set the oven to 200 degrees and checked the thermometer 30 minutes later only to have it say that my oven was 475 degrees. More than a little off! I read the manual, adjusted the oven like it said too, and now it's reading within a normal temperature range. I think I'll still see if we can get another thermometer at some point because it'd be nice to not have to calculate the temperature when I set the oven and just actually be able to set the oven for the correct temperature. So, while I may not be Suzy Homemaker, I am Suzy Fix-it. =)
That's a quick recap of our Thanksgiving weekend. I hope that everyone else had an enjoyable one as well.
