Retirement

Today at work was the retirement party for my boss. Originally I thought it would be a sad occasion but we were so busy preparing the party and hosting that there wasn't really time. He seemed like he had a good time and enjoyed himself which is what the event was really about. It's hard to think that he's gone and that we'll really be on our own and taking things over. We've been preparing for it for a while but still it's strange to think the time is already here. I've had a great time getting to know him and he will be missed, by the library staff if no one else. It's nice to have had a boss that trusts my judgement about things and works on more a collaborative level. With his leaving comes the added responsibility of me doing some cataloging, some reference, and some liaison work with a few departments as well. Everything should be smooth sailing, we'll just have to wait and see.
