The Joy of Silence

Today was not a good day. I'm not saying that every aspect was horrible and that we needed a reboot. No. In fact, most of it was just fine. We went to get some lunch, we went to the zoo...and then we left the zoo. Timmy was being a little whiny when we left and we assumed that was because he was tired. He cried the whole way home. When we got home, we made sure he had dry pants for his nap and said he could lay in Mommy and Daddy's bed with them if he wanted. He cried the entire time. No, I take that back. He cried the whole time except for the 20/30 minutes that he and I fell asleep. We thought he might be sick because he was a little warm but it was too hard to tell if that was because he had been leaning against me or not. We got him a cool washcloth which he tolerated for a while and then said he wanted to go see the motorcycles. Since it was fairly obvious that no nap was going to occur, we decided to take him up on his idea.

Erik for a few weeks has been looking at Harleys. Not that we are buying one (or even know how to drive/ride one) but he enjoys looking at them. I can totally see Erik on a motorcycle. I personally think it would be a Fat Boy...which are expensive. Anyway, last weekend Erik and Timmy stopped by the Harley store on Sunday to look at the bikes through the window and apparently Timmy really enjoyed it. So we did the same thing today. It didn't go horribly, which was nice, but he decided he wanted to go to the library about 2 seconds after we got there. Fine, but we looked at the bikes first. He did fine at the library too and since things were going so well we decided to head to the mall because I needed a dress for the wedding in 2 weeks (2 weeks! That's crazy!).

We get to the mall, Erik tries on some jeans that we purchased for him ($15!) and two sizes smaller than the ones he had on. Awesome! Looks like I'm not the only one losing a bit of weight in our household! I tried on 6 dresses, Erik really liked two of them, we took the two with us downstairs to look for something for Timmy to wear to the wedding. We didn't find anything that really wowed us (we showed Timmy a little vest/tie outfit and he laughed and said no) so we bought our stuff and headed down by the food court and train. We watched the train for a little while and then got some dinner. After some more train watching we left for home.

Timmy is now in bed and...quiet. He was a little fussy getting ready for bed but I'll take it if this means he'll sleep through the night. Heck, I'll take it if it means he's not crying continuously. That hour period really made for a long day and I'm kinda sad about that. Oh well. The joys of being a parent I guess.
