Hosting a Party

Yesterday our house hosted the cook-out portion of our friend Dennis's bachelor party. I came home from work, made some dip (which I got decidedly little of) and then went in by Timmy who was still taking a nap. I offered to leave once Timmy woke up but everyone thought it was fine for me to stick around. Awesome, a lot easier for me.

Timmy woke up, said hi to Daddy's friends and then wanted to come back inside. After a while I decided that since I had some stuff to return to the library (a different one from the previous post) that we would head out there and come back. When we went to leave everyone kept asking where Timmy was going. Nice. Not too concerned about me, but where's the kid going. Oh well. We picked up some new items, Timmy placed his on the counter and asked that they be checked out for him (that alone was hilarious) and then we came back home where he showed Daddy's friends his new DVDs and asked if they wanted to watch Thomas with him. So cute!

I hung out inside with Timmy because I didn't want to disrupt the bachelor party too much and I didn't want anyone annoyed with me still being here. I don't think they would have been but better safe than sorry. After a few hours they left for the Brewers game (which they actually won!) and I was left with the clean-up and Timmy and Bud. Clean-up took about 20 minutes and then we went for a walk. Taking a walk with a kid and a dog is more work than it might sound. Maybe it's just more work because of my kid and my dog, but that's how it was. I was so glad to get back home. Timmy went to bed, the guys came back from the game to get their chairs and leftovers, and the night was done.

It sounds like Dennis had a good time, which was really the point. Our place didn't burn down with both Burkees over, which of course is a plus. Hosting a party is a lot easier when I don't have to do the pre-party clean-up or cooking. We should do this more often...
