Things Are Never Simple

You know how when you think something will be really easy and make complete sense?  What normally ends up happening is that things get messed up beyond belief.  This is something we're dealing with right now.

We noticed that we aren't using all of our cell phone minutes (yeah...we had about 4500 rollover minutes) and decided to go to Go Phones.  Since we like AT&T, we decided to stick with the AT&T Go Phones.  Unfortunately for us, we decided to take advantage of the deal offered at Radio Shack to get the extra minutes for free ($10 when you bought a phone).  The problem with this is, we wanted to keep our old phone numbers.  So rather than Radio Shack calling about the situation (because I know they've probably dealt with this situation before), they just gave us new numbers and put all of our credit on the new numbers.

Now, after Erik spending 45 minutes on the phone with AT&T last week, then us going in store and dealing with the situation for another 45 minutes on Saturday, and then me dealing with it for about 30 minutes, I am told that it just can't be done.  AT&T doesn't transfer balances of Go Phones from one account to another, even if the accounts are in the same name.  This is some craziness.  The worst part is that everyone completely understands the situation, they just say they can't do anything about it.  Oh the frustration!!

I guess at least we've learned our lesson and will not be going with any 3rd party vendors in the future.  Still, it's annoying to know that after all that work, I'm no further than I was before.  Woo!  How fun!  So, as of right now, we have 4 Go Phone accounts, 2 that have a balance and 2 that don't.  The best that AT&T could offer was for us to use up the minutes on the account we didn't want and then put money on the other account.  I think we kinda figured that's what would end up happening anyway.  It's just really annoying.

Long story short, if you need to get a hold of us, call the house phone or email until we tell you otherwise.  Isn't life fun?
