Our Weekend

We had a great weekend!  Saturday was spent with me at work (both jobs) and then just hanging out on Saturday night.  Sunday we headed off to church and then the zoo.  It was such a nice day!  Apparently we were not the only ones that thought going to the zoo was a great idea, it was crowded!  Nice to see that the zoo is appreciated and visited though.

We were able to talk Timmy into going to see some of the other animals we don't normally see.  We first visited the elephants (of course!) and then headed off to the Australian animals.  I guess we don't actually have any koalas anymore but we were able to see the kangaroos and the tree kangaroos, not quite sure where the emus were hanging out but that's okay.  After that we went through the Wolf Woods...and didn't see any wolves.  Oh well.  We then went to see the polar bears and watched them for a long while.  After the polar bear we saw the seal and sea lion swimming and Timmy was interested enough that we went down to the underwater viewing area.  No sooner did we get down there than one of them went to the bathroom and most of the adults and kids freaked out (because of course, animals don't go to the bathroom ever ) but that also meant that a lot of them left so there was room for Timmy to get closer to the window so he could see.  We watched the seal and sea lion swim for a good 10 minutes.  It's nice to see him expressing interest in different animals.  The sea lion totally showed off in front of the people, doing flips and barrel rolls, all of which Timmy thought was great.  We then decided to head back to the car in the hopes of getting home for a nap.  We went out on the walkway that goes right up to the lake and enjoyed watching the ducks on the lake.  After doing a few pictures with Daddy and then Mommy, a nice gal offered to take our family picture, which was really nice.  We don't have a lot of family pictures for that exact reason--we hate to ask others to take our picture for us.

When we got home we turned on the Great Circus Parade, which returned to Milwaukee after a 4 year hiatus.  It will be interesting to see if it comes back again next year.  It looked like it was pretty crowded downtown so I am hoping it was a success.  Timmy was interested but eventually gave in to the nap so he missed the rest of the parade.  Glad we didn't try to go to the parade like I originally had wanted.  I would have hated for him to be fussy and not really able to leave because it would have been too crowded with people and everything.  Maybe I'm not giving him enough credit.  Who knows.  Regardless, it was fun to watch on TV and I am really glad that we watched.  Overall it was just a really pleasant Sunday which made the weekend so nice.  Hope you had a good weekend too!
