All of us had off on July 3rd because of closed work and daycare. Honestly, if daycare had been open we would have taken Timmy and then gone to a movie ourselves, but that's okay. We decided to go to the zoo and had a really good time. We then met up with our friend Dennis and his fiance Christine for some lunch. It was really nice to be able to see them and talk about their wedding (in October), offer advice, offer help, and just hang out. I don't get to hang out with our friends too often because it's normally at a movie (after Timmy has gone to bed) or at a restaurant (after Timmy has gone to bed), so this was a nice change of pace. After lunch we came home and Timmy took a nap. When he got up we went to JC Penny and the mall before calling it a day. After we put Timmy to bed we watched the first hour of Transformers which I had never seen.
On Saturday, the 4th, we woke up and went to the Wauwatosa parade with Paul and Katie. While it wasn't what I was used to from living in Seward, it was a good time. Timmy had never been to a parade before and I think he had a really good time. There were a few groups that threw candy but Timmy wasn't really interested in the candy. After the first bouts of kids picked up the candy I thought Timmy would have an opportunity to at least get a piece but the other little kids were quite the greedy little ones and didn't even leave a piece for Timmy to get. Oh well. It was mostly taffy and tootsie rolls anyway so it's not candy that I would want Timmy to eat anyway. After a short stop at Paul and Katie's so we could see Paul's Optimus Prime (our birthday gift to him) we headed out for some lunch and then a nap. Both Timmy and I took a nap and when we got up we headed over to Franklin for the Franklin festival and to see our friend Jeff's band play. We came home and took Bud for a walk up to Manitoba Park to watch the fireworks from Jackson Park. It was a short show (only about 15/20 minutes) but Timmy really enjoyed it. It was the first time he's seen a fireworks display but at least we know he likes them and wasn't too afraid of the loud noises. Next year we might try to take him to an actual fireworks display, we'll have to see. After Timmy went to bed we finished Transformers and then went to bed ourselves. What a nice day!
I hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th! Enjoy the last day of the weekend!
