On Sunday for Timmy's 3rd birthday, we decided to take him to the zoo. We haven't been in a while (mostly because we didn't have a zoopass) and thought that it would make a nice family outing. We went with Paul and Katie and really had a good time.
The forecast was for rain all day, but it held out and was just cloudy the entire time we got there. It was a little cool and windy but that just means less crowds (especially after the awesome weather we had had on Friday and Saturday).
We told Timmy we would go wherever he wanted and so first we went to the Primates of the World. There Timmy was able to see a gorilla up close and was fairly interested in him. The gorilla was not as interested in us, as he walked away from the glass just a few minutes later. Oh well.
Timmy was able to see a baby orangutan and thought he was sleeping and kept saying "Get up!". The baby was really playing with everyone though as s/he pulled the blanket over her/his head and played hide-and-seek with everyone. It was really cute.
Just before we left we were able to watch a little bit of a monkey fight. There was no poop thrown, not that I saw anyway, but the monkeys get pretty vicious. We were more interested in the monkey fight than Timmy and were dragged away before Daddy and Uncle Paul were able to watch the entire fight. Oh well. Probably for the best anyway.
After that we went in the Aquatic and Reptile Center and saw lots of fish, snakes, and even a few alligators and turtles. The older he gets, the more information Timmy is able to digest and then share with everyone else. He's just so cute that way!
After that it was down the hill to see the badger, a black bear, and then eat some lunch. When we were done with lunch we went to go see the elephants (I don't know if Paul or Tim was more excited) and then through the Big Cat Country before calling the zoo. It's a good thing we did too because about 15 minutes after we got home it started to rain. Yeah for good timing on our part! Here are a few pictures of our trip and the rest can be found here.
