Easter Eggs

Friday night after dinner we decided to try dyeing some Easter eggs with Timmy.  We didn't try this last year because we thought he was much too young for it, but this year he seemed like he could handle himself.

One of the things I read on the back of the PAAS package is that you don't have to use vinegar for the tablets to work.  Right, wish I would have known that years ago, not a big fan of the vinegar smell.  If you use vinegar, the color will be the darkest.  However, you can use just water or even lemon juice.  We decided to use lemon juice and were pretty happy with the results.

If you haven't been around Timmy lately, you may not know that he really enjoys lemons.  He'll eat them if you get them with your water or as a part of your meal (if you are getting fish for instance).  So the scent was apparently too much for him to resist.  He would stick his fingers in the different colors and then suck on them.  While he loves the taste, that doesn't mean he's oblivious to the strong flavor either.  It made for some amusing moments to say the least.  There are some pictures below but the rest are here.

Here Timmy is showing Jake that there is an egg in that color.
So determined!
