We had a party to celebrate my golden birthday at the beginning of June. It was a great time and I'm so glad that everyone was able to come! I was SO disappointed that it started to rain about an hour before the party. However, it worked out that we moved the cars from the garage so everyone was able to stay mostly dry and still have a good time. It was a book club/family/friends party. I tried a new salad that went over really well and I was impressed and delighted by the amount of leftovers (pretty much just enough for lunches for me for the week). Woo! Very exciting! There aren't any pictures of me opening gifts and cards. I got a Nook from my parents and brothers (and sister-in-law) and then Barnes and Noble gift cards from some book club people...so the presents went nicely together! For those of you who don't know, a Nook is a e-book reader that can also do a few other functions. To learn more about Nook check out www.barnesandnoble.com
Here's my cake that I made and decorated myself. Not the prettiest, but it was tasty.
My sister-in-law and brother, Katie and Paul
My college roommate, Jenny. The empty plate on the empty chair is meant to be for her fiance (now husband) Dave, whom I had never met. It was kind of a joke.
Chris, Benjamin, and Karen stopped by for a little while
Dan and Sarah (Sarah's in my book club)
Beth (another Book Club person and a good friend)
Jeff and Rebecca
Our friends Dennis and Christine. Christine is one of Timmy's BFFs and a Book Club member.
Erik and I (one of the few points of the night that we were actually by each other and not socializing with other people or manning the grill or serving up food)
Gretchen and Paul (Gretchen's in Book Club)
There's my kid! Playing nicely on the floor of the garage with Benjamin.
Getting ready to blow out the candles of my cake and trying to keep Timmy at a distance from all the flames.
