A Life Update

For those of you who may not know, the place I live in is currently owned by my in-laws.  Since Jake and Amy moved to IN, we have been the only ones living here.  In April they decided to put the duplex on the market and see what happened.  After a few showings and a few months of trying, it was decided that we would move downstairs and that if there were any seriously interested parties, then the house would be shown.

This was all decided last Thursday (pretty much) and after work on Saturday, I came home and decided since Erik had already moved the 5-shelf bookcases downstairs that I would then bring up and put away our DVDs that have been boxed up since March.  That went pretty well (except for the box of M-S DVDs that was missing for days and truly bothering me because I know I labeled them very well--the box was found last night) and I decided that I wanted to try to move all of our stuff downstairs on Sunday.

Sunday morning I let Erik sleep until 8 (because it was his birthday, and hey, I'm a giver like that!) and then we really started moving stuff.  Timmy was content to mostly just watch Thomas and stay in the living room upstairs.  Bud, unfortunately, was a little more high strung and so he got put in the backyard.  We were able to move all of the furniture from Timmy's room and our room and reassemble/put things away by noon.  We then showered and went to lunch (but put Bud back in the house first).  When we got back from lunch we just kinda chilled for a little bit and then put Timmy down for a nap before moving the 4-shelf bookcases and couches downstairs.  Overall, I was very impressed with what Erik and I were able to handle on our own.

So Monday night Erik calls me at work to say that an interested party from about 3 weeks ago wanted to see the house again.  I don't really know what they thought of everything and I do feel bad for the mess that is still upstairs because we haven't had a chance to clean and there's still small things left up there, but that's just how it goes sometimes.  So, after all of the efforts from Sunday, we might be moving again in just a few weeks.  It doesn't really bother me at all because at least for a few weeks (if not longer) I have enough space for my kid, my dog, my husband, and all of our stuff.  The situation may not be ideal but we're comfortable right now, and that's really all that matters to me.  We'll have a kitchen table again (once we bring it up from the basement) which excites me beyond belief.  Last night we even unpacked some books and put them on the bookcases because I want this to feel like home.  I can always pack up the books again (I'm good at the packing and labeling aspect) so I don't see the problem in it.

I do plan on taking pictures of our place so you can see the set up and everything we've got going...but not today because we've still got some stuff to bring up or bring down and I just want to relax a little bit before work tonight.  So, that's the past few months for us in a nutshell.  And how is everyone else's summer?  =)
